Termites soldier’s …
Termites soldier’s heads and jaws are large to defend narrow tunnels in a mound. As Ants rush in they are forced to go one by one and get caught up by powerful jaws…unfortunetly if any soldiers go outside the mound soldiers will hole up the tunnels to protect the mound. The soldiers are then left to die. The white stuff is acid…soldiers emit that as well to defend the workers.

Termite soldiers …
Termite soldiers are somewhat useless. When ants attack the soldiers rarely kill any. Their pincers arent strong enough. As a matter of fact the ants are so unconcerned with their pincers they usually go between them and sting the soldiers inside their mouth. The soldiers are really just sacrifices so that not as many workers are taken.
try using a little …
try using a little rubbing alcohol, dont light it on fire though, the fumes from the alcohol evaporating fills every hole they hide in, eventually suffercating them all, then just use the vacume cleaner for the clean up. works good for getting rid of ants too.

A more quick & efficient (though expensive) way to find termites is to use a handheld thermal vision camera. Trust me, I have seen my friend who works in the exterminator business use this camera & man..You could easily see the heat coming from the termite colony.
