I purchased a small side table from an antique mall and after a few months I started to notice termite droppings. I removed the table from the house and after a few more months noticed that the dropping stopped. So, back in the house it went...well recently I noticed that the dropping started again. I love the table but need to get rid of the termites!

Put it in a walk in type freezer for about a week. Cold will kill the dry wood termites. If that is not an option, remove the finish, or if the underside of the furniture is unfinished, get some boracare and paint it or spray it on the unfinished sides. Boracare will not penetrate finished wood. You can also remove the finish treat it with the boracare and then refinish the piece. Dilute it with 1 part boracare and 1 or 2 parts water

Note: Do not use a wettable powder type borate, it may ruin it.

I have a garden bed elevated surrounded by bricks. It has been infested with termites for some years now. Last year, I put down termite pellets and sprayed poison on the places where they mostly were. It didn't solve the problem and they ate and destroyed a rosebush. I would look for the stuff you put in the ground as stakes. Those plastic stakes have a sustance they eat and take back to their nest and that sterilizes the nest, so they de off pretty fast. But I have never heard of termites eating a live rose bush before, so I am wondering if the reason your termite solution did not work is because these are something else. I would mix 1 Tablespoon Boric Acid (from first aid section of pharmacy) with 1 Tablespoon Sugar and 1/3 Cup of water. Mix this up, put it in a paper cup with the the lip cut down close to the mixture and then place this in the bed. Cover it with a pot but nor tightly - you want the insects to find it. If they take this home to share, it will dessicate the nest and kill them that way.

Three trees in my yard are infected with bugs. Two in the back have termites, which has already killed one tree in our yard. And one tree in our front yard has these black beetle with red spots, and no there no ladybugs. How do I get rid of them or find somebody that can get rid of them?

One web page that we found suggests that you take a cardboard box and wet it down.  Then you place it around your home and monitor it.  Termites like soft food and the weakened cardboard – that is made of wood – makes it a great buffet for invading termites.  Once you find termites in the damp cardboard, take it somewhere and burn it and then continue the process.  It takes diligence, but eventually, you’ll gain control – at least somewhat. 

Another poster on this web page went to a local home improvement store and bought some termite bait for $18.88.  She placed it around the foundation of her home and changed it as the box said.  Since she monitored it faithfully and changed the bait according to directions, she found that she didn’t get a termite problem at all.  What is funny about her story is that a pest control company came out to assess her home and give her an estimate on how she could control termites.  Their estimate was over $1,300!  In her quest for a homemade termite killer, she found a commercial product that worked just as well as a pest control company’s but for much, much, much less the cost.

Use common sense when trying to come up with a homemade termite killer and be diligent about your efforts.  If you take the time to pay attention to your home, you will eventually be able to come up with a homemade termite killer that will meet all of your needs and keep your home safe.
