Whats that song title?
Great vid!! I usually find the red and black Carpenter ants in stumps – they seem to like the more moist locations – I never find the black and red ones inside tho – not quite sure how they interact with the pure black ones yet. Any thoughts?
@Degenskonto
Kind of. I record fast moving objects in a super high speed (500-1000 fps) and then slow up the play back frame rate to a more normal 30-60 fps. The end result for fast moving small actions, like those from an insect, is better suited for our purpose which is mostly educational.
Was this video slowed down alot?
what time is carpenter ants nuptial flights or mating flights
Niger is a great species and any of the Acrobat ants are good
so which one is the best species to use in an ant nest/farm?
I agree with not using this species for an ant farm. I actually filmed these ants in a backyard right after I found the activity. It was during a rainy period and I think the colony was mobilized to avoid the water.
This is not the best species to use as an ant farm. The carpenter ant colony can take up to 14 years to reach full size
