Question by miranda: Anyone have any home remedies for getting rid of head lice?
My children were exposed to head lice around 4th of July and i have been checking them aleast 2 times a day since I found out. Well any when checking my daughter last night I found lice eggs. So I ran to wal-Mart and bought bedding spray, and a product called licefreee! a homepathic Pediculicid it is pharmacist recommend kills lice and the eggs and most important is free from potentially harmful pesticides and is safe for repeated applications.(Non-toxic). I am washing everything in hot water and drying it at a hot temp. also I sprayed everything with the bedding spray. I'm sure that I've done a very good job and I also made sure my children didn't have anymore eggs/nits or bugs i comb it w/a nit comb throughly. I'm just needing serious suggestion on any home remedies that you might of heard that worked or tried yourself in case they ever return. also if you have any suggestions on how/or what to use to keep from getting them. Thanks alot ahead of time. This is very frustrating
Question by a: What were lice lice and fleas up to before the fall of man?
Before Adam and Eve ruined humanity over a piece of fruit bequeathed upon them by a talking snake hanging in a tree, what were lice and fleas doing? I mean, they were probably not feeding off human and animal blood, right? What were they eating? Chlorophyll from plants? Looking for best apologist answer of the year on this one.

Question by Diana: pest control for yards without harmful chemicals?
Any natural pest control that you can put in a spray bottle to control fleas. If I'm able to control them outside, then I would no longer worry about them getting on my pets and bringing them in. Please help

Answer by canes77 Sevin dust is safe for pets, yet effective. It's a powder that you sprinkle through the yard.

One of the most persistent and notorious pests that dogs, and dog lovers have to deal with is fleas. Fleas are parasitic blood sucking creatures that thrive in fur. They are oval shaped and are the longest jumpers in the animal kingdom relative to their size.
Virtually all dogs and most other furry animals have fleas; cats are typically less prone to high levels of infestation because of their grooming habits. Dogs though are another story and the reality is that most dog owners will have to deal with a serious flea infestation at least once.
The first sign that your dog may be badly afflicted is excessive scratching, if you notice that your dog has been scratching more often, you should run a brush over his fur. If your dog has a lot of fleas, you will see many of them when you brush his hair, in severe cases you might even see flees falling right off as you stroke your dog with the brush. In such cases, you may need to call a vet, and you will probably not only have to treat your dog, but your house as well.
Not even frequent grooming can provide a guarantee against flee infestation. Dogs can and do get fleas when they come into contact with other dogs. Simply taking your dog for a walk or letting him play with other dogs in the park is enough to start a major infestation. The bottom line is that there is no way around it, fleas are just something you will need to deal with at one time or another as a dog owner.
It is possible to search for fleas one at a time, but the process is time consuming, and unless you find every flea on your dog's body, the chances are the fleas that remain will simple multiply. The best way to deal with fleas is by using any one of a number of solutions on the market. There are flea sprays, ant-flea shampoo, flea collars and flea powder. Incorporating such products into your grooming routine should help you curb the spread of fleas, just make sure to use the products only as directed, and read any directions that accompany them carefully.
To get the most out of your flea spray, shampoo or powder, inspect your dog carefully. Make sure you identify the spots where the infestation is worst. When you apply your flea product make sure you concentrate more on the problem areas you identified. Use flea spray on the dog's bed and other areas he frequents. You should also wash the bed if possible. Fleas thrive in warmer conditions, so you should be more wary of infection in spring and most especially in summer. In tropical climates, fleas are a problem all year round.
Frequent thorough grooming, good hygiene and vigilance are your best defenses against flea infestation. If and when your dog is infested though, you should deal with it swiftly and decisively, fortunately there is no shortage of products to help you get rid of fleas.

Question by Kate: How can I tell if the apartment I'm about to rent has a roach problem?
I'm moving to Northern Virginia in a week or two and will be looking at apartments. Besides actually spotting roaches, are there any warning signs there is a roach problem? Will my chances of having roaches be less if I live in a high-rise? How else, besides cleaning obviously, can I avoid roach infestation?
Best answer:
Answer by someone Before moving into a new apartment, always get it pest controlled. High rise or not, if any part of the building is infested, you are sure to have roach problems. To ensure there are no roaches, visit the apartment at midnight and silently enter the kitchen or bathroom!

Question by Awkward Silence: How many fleas are in my house?
I gave my cats Frontline three weeks ago, and treated the carpet with baking soda and salt two days ago, but today I combed 48 fleas off of my cats so far. I'm wondering how many live fleas there could be in my house. Does anyone know how many fleas are in one house at any given time? I know that only 5% of the flea population is adult fleas, which means that new fleas are probably constantly hatching. Basically, how many do I have to kill before they're all gone?
Best answer:
Answer by Cindy why are you cleaning with salt and baking soda it does not kill flees they need a chemical you should go to a pet shop and get the good stuff for cats and carpet spray under couch beds ect they live every where if you found 48 fleas you probably have about 4800 if not more kill them now yuck
