Roaches are filthy and disgusting creatures. They are common bugs, which enter any home. They normally survive in moist and murky places. Roaches contain microorganisms that are dangerous to human health. They are supposed to spread allergies and asthma. Hence, it is important to get rid of them in case you find them in your house. There are various ways to deal with roach issues. One of them is bait. Roach bait is a pest control alternative to exterminate roaches present indoors.

Bait could be in the form of a small disc sized thing that has a gel to attract roaches and kill them. It could be in the form of a gel applied in corners and crevices. This gel lures roaches to exterminate them. Both forms are very efficient in getting rid of roaches:

• Small and compact: Baits are very small. You can place these traps anywhere there are chances of cockroach infestation. You could keep them in even tight spaces below the appliances. Therefore, you could keep the bait in even areas that are tiny and beyond reach which are the most likely grounds for roaches.

• Effective: Bait is a very effective solution for killing cockroaches. It contains boric acid that is very effective in destroying roaches. It works perfectly well. The bait lures the roaches for food. The roach crawls through the small opening and consumes the bait. The gel actually contains poison in the form of boric acid that kills the roach.

Here are the benefits of roach bait:

• With a single application, you could be free from roaches for a long time, even up to a year. Other solutions do not last that long.

• Using bait is not an expensive affair at all. It will not cost you too much and will do wonders to deal with your roach problems.

• Sprays and powders interfere with food and get everywhere. Bait stays where you keep it.

• Insecticides and sprays contain harmful chemicals that could affect health. Boric acid is relatively less toxic and does not have any drastic effect on health.

• Powders and sprays that you use in corners leave a bad small all over the house. That is not the case with bait. You just need to keep it where roaches frequent and forget about it.

• It is very convenient to keep bait. You need not move around containers and jars. You have to place bait. Tips on where to use bait:

• The ideal places where you must apply bait are sinks, toilets, appliances, cabinets, panty, drawers and cupboards. Make sure to use the bait below the sink is the most likely place for the roaches to survive. Such places are warm, dark and moist – ideal for roaches.

• If it is in the form of a gel, you could use a caulk gun or a spatula to apply it. You will just need to stir a little before application. It turns to a paste like solution that has to apply on infested areas.

• If you are suffering from roaches, then roach bait will help you solve this problem without any inconvenience and with minimum efforts.

How to Prevent a Roach Infestation

Every one of us has seen cockroaches in our dinning rooms or kitchens. These small nocturnal bugs could attack your house without any warning. They are horrible crawlers that stray everywhere including the toilet, over your cooked meals and dirty dishes. This explains why they spread diseases. Roaches carry germs that are harmful to human health. They spread allergies and asthma. If you happen to find any cockroach in your house, you must immediately look for the source. This is the only way to get rid of the problem. Else, the roaches will multiply and grow. Roaches are capable of surviving on minimal resources. They even survive a house explosion. This could give you an idea how difficult it is to show them the way out of your home. Hence, it is important that you deal with roach infestation issue very seriously. Deal with it as soon as it occurs.

Before you get in to how to deal with roaches, you must remember a few points about them so that you can handle them well:

    • Roaches crawl only during night. Therefore, if you are not getting their source you must check out at night

    • The areas where roaches occur are normally dark, warm and moist. You must try to keep the corners of your house clean and dry. Roaches breed in wet areas and maximum roach infestation happens near the sink.

    • The most likely target areas, loved by roaches include below the sink, in the cracks and crevices, behind the cabinets and drawers and near sink areas.

    • Roaches will mostly only enter your house if there is left over foods or spillages. If there are several filthy hiding places in your house, roaches will celebrate.

    • Try to keep your house as clean as possible and pick up all the left over food and secure it in tins, boxes or in the refrigerator.

    • Clean all vessels of the day before you sleep so that there are no dirty plates in the sink.

    • If there are several cracks and crevices in your walls, you must get them repaired at the earliest. Roaches love to stay in cracks and can hide there for days. Hence, it is important that you seal them soon.

    • Roaches do not like naphthalene balls. These white balls are effective in keeping the roaches away. Moreover, they emit a good fresh smell in your cabinets, cupboards and drawers.

In case you find roaches, you could take the following steps:

    1) Use Sprays: There are sprays available in the market that instantly kills these pests. You can keep a bottle so that whenever you find a bug, just spray on it and the job is over. Take care of the children. Take the spray far from their reach.

    2) Bait: If you are uncomfortable with spray due to the smell and its effects on health, you could buy bait. It is as a gel applied at places where roaches frequent. Bait works really well by luring the roaches first. Then the roaches die after consuming them.

    3) Home remedy: Make dough with sugar, flour and boric acid. Boric acid kills roaches and sugar attracts them. Flour will make them stick to the balls and thus this is very effective in keeping the roaches away.

    4) Exterminators: If all steps to prevent roach infestation fail then you must take professional help to deal with roach problems.

Use a Roach Spray to Stop Roaches in their Tracks

Roaches are disease-carrying bugs. They are disgusting, embarrassing and very tough insects. The problem with roaches is that they hardly need any resources for their survival. They grow in numbers very fast, and it is really an issue if they breed in your house. Roaches cause asthma, allergies, diarrhea and even urinary tract infections. Hence, it is very important that you tackle roach problems as a priority. This will free your house from this irritating bug. A roach spray will be very helpful to you in doing so.

Roaches love to hide in cracks and crevices of your house. They love to thrive in hiding areas, below the sink, wet areas, cupboards, drawers and cabinets and near the dustbin. You or the exterminator could target these areas to kill the roaches. The fact about roaches is that they love areas that are damp, filthy and dark. Being nocturnal bugs, roaches move about freely at night if they find food in your house.

The most effective way of killing cockroaches is to expose them to insecticides. These roach-repellent sprays are commonly available in the market. They are very useful and all you need to do is buy them and spray on a roach if you see one. A good spray will kill the insect within seconds. Such aerosol sprays can spread the poison even within cracks and crevices. Some of these sprays are also odor-free so that it does not get difficult for you or your family.

You must be very careful in handling such sprays. At the end of the day, they are insecticides that are harmful to human health as well. You have to take care to keep them away from the reach of children. You must carefully follow all the safety precautions mentioned on the bottle. Ideally, you must cover your nose and mouth very well while spraying. In addition, it would be best if you could leave the house after spraying, as inhaling the spray could be risky.

Some varieties of the roach spray work on the idea of flushing out the roaches from their hiding areas and killing them. Firstly, the poison makes the roaches very uncomfortable. They run out of their hiding places, trying to flee, but the spray works on by suffocating. The advantage is that the roaches do not die in the cracks and hence you can dispose them off after killing them. It would be difficult to remove dead roaches from their hiding place.

Let me give you a few tips here that will help you to deal with roach problem:

    • Keep your house clean and dry

    • The target areas of roaches especially, must be dry and if possible spread boric acid powder in the corners

    • Do not invite roaches by leaving food on the floor or in the kitchen

    • Invest in a good spray that will come handy if ever you find a roach crawling. A home free of roaches ensures good health for the members.

    • You might want to call an expert exterminator to sprinkle the roach spray in the entire house. They will keep you furniture and other possession apart to do a through job for you.

300px Keeshond Sibirian Husky crossbreed puppy Thinking of a Good Way to Help Your Puppy with Flea Pest Control

    Image via Wikipedia

On a healthy grown dog, fleas may be nothing more than a nuisance. A dog that has health problems or one that isn't keeping a healthy body weight can probably have serious health issues that come out of a flea infestation. While flea medication, the standard kind that you find over-the-counter at any pet store or drugstore can work with any adult dog, they really are not recommended for use on a puppy. What do you do if you have flea pest control problems dealing with puppies?

Fleas are parasites that live on the blood that they draw from an animal they bite. They do more than to merely than bite though. The saliva of a flea contains the eggs of parasitic worms. With the eggs of parasitic worms on their skin, dogs can become extremely itchy and uncomfortable. Puppies are small and they can't afford the kind of blood loss that flea bites come with. Their little bodies quickly become anemic as can be seen from a puppy's pale gums.

Almost any standard over-the-counter flea medication usually comes with warnings against use on puppies that are less than two months old. About the most popular treatment available for puppies is the Capstar one. It can be used as a flea pest control method with a puppy as young as a month old. With very young puppies, the best way to help with a flea pest control problem is usually to do it by hand and not depend on any treatments. What you do is, you bathe the young puppy in mild warm water with soap. This will usually kill all fleas.Once you're done, you can dry your puppy and use a flea comb to remove any fleas that remain.

The way to bathe a puppy for flea control purposes is to apply the soap to the puppy's coat before you actually wet the puppy. This way, the fleas have no time to prepare themselves for the assault. They just can't survive in soap. The best soap for this kind of purpose is usually Dawn dish liquid. Prepare a soapy mixture half with water and half with soap and keep it ready before you bring your puppy into the room. You'll need to soothe the puppy with a lot of tender loving care for a while before he'll let you give him the treatment. Once your puppy is grown enough, say past the age of 2 to 3 months, you can put him on a regimen of preventive flea medication for his coat his whole life.

My garden (trees, plants & lawn) is being destroyed by termites. How can I get rid of them without poisoning my dogs or the wild birds?

The answer is nematodes, tiny roundworms that clear infestations of all termites, weevils, aphids etc. They are effective in 24 to 48hrs, there are no ill effects to humans, pets, plants or garden birds. Scientists over the World are studying these beauties to ascertain if they can be produced in such numbers that they may be used on a large scale in agriculture. This would stop the spraying of poisonous substance's on our crops. They are available for garden use at most good garden centres and there are a number of sites on the web. I used them on the late Lord Lichfields beloved orchids when they had a weevil attack. The problem was cleared overnight. Highly recommended. Good luck.

I have a friend who is having a problem with pigeons being on the porch. Is there anything she can do to repel them? Hang CDs? Is there a certain color that repels them?

Change your method of feeding the dog. If you have to feed it outside, then get a feeder that only drops the feed into the tray at a certain time of day so that there is no extra left over.

CD's will only work for about a day or so, if that.
