Roaches are filthy and disgusting creatures. They are common bugs, which enter any home. They normally survive in moist and murky places. Roaches contain microorganisms that are dangerous to human health. They are supposed to spread allergies and asthma. Hence, it is important to get rid of them in case you find them in your house. There are various ways to deal with roach issues. One of them is bait. Roach bait is a pest control alternative to exterminate roaches present indoors.

Bait could be in the form of a small disc sized thing that has a gel to attract roaches and kill them. It could be in the form of a gel applied in corners and crevices. This gel lures roaches to exterminate them. Both forms are very efficient in getting rid of roaches:

• Small and compact: Baits are very small. You can place these traps anywhere there are chances of cockroach infestation. You could keep them in even tight spaces below the appliances. • Effective: Bait is a very effective solution for killing cockroaches. It contains boric acid that is very effective in destroying roaches. It works perfectly well. The bait lures the roaches for food. The roach crawls through the small opening and consumes the bait. The gel actually contains poison in the form of boric acid that kills the roach.

• With a single application, you could be free from roaches for a long time, even up to a year. Other solutions do not last that long.

• Using bait is not an expensive affair at all. It will not cost you too much and will do wonders to deal with your roach problems.

• Sprays and powders interfere with food and get everywhere. Bait stays where you keep it.

• Insecticides and sprays contain harmful chemicals that could affect health. Boric acid is relatively less toxic and does not have any drastic effect on health.

• Powders and sprays that you use in corners leave a bad small all over the house. That is not the case with bait. You just need to keep it where roaches frequent and forget about it.

• It is very convenient to keep bait. You need not move around containers and jars. You have to place bait. Tips on where to use bait:

• The ideal places where you must apply bait are sinks, toilets, appliances, cabinets, panty, drawers and cupboards. Make sure to use the bait below the sink is the most likely place for the roaches to survive. Such places are warm, dark and moist – ideal for roaches.

• If it is in the form of a gel, you could use a caulk gun or a spatula to apply it. You will just need to stir a little before application. It turns to a paste like solution that has to apply on infested areas.

• If you are suffering from roaches, then roach bait will help you solve this problem without any inconvenience and with minimum efforts.

• Clean all vessels of the day before you sleep so that there are no dirty plates in the sink.

• If there are several cracks and crevices in your walls, you must get them repaired at the earliest. Roaches love to stay in cracks and can hide there for days. Hence, it is important that you seal them soon.

• Roaches do not like naphthalene balls. These white balls are effective in keeping the roaches away. Moreover, they emit a good fresh smell in your cabinets, cupboards and drawers.

In case you find roaches, you could take the following steps:

1) Use Sprays: There are sprays available in the market that instantly kills these pests. You can keep a bottle so that whenever you find a bug, just spray on it and the job is over. Take care of the children. Take the spray far from their reach.

2) Bait: If you are uncomfortable with spray due to the smell and its effects on health, you could buy bait. It is as a gel applied at places where roaches frequent. Bait works really well by luring the roaches first. Then the roaches die after consuming them.

3) Home remedy: Make dough with sugar, flour and boric acid. Boric acid kills roaches and sugar attracts them. Flour will make them stick to the balls and thus this is very effective in keeping the roaches away.

4) Exterminators: If all steps to prevent roach infestation fail then you must take professional help to deal with roach problems.

Fleas are parasites that live on the blood that they draw from an animal they bite. They do more than to merely than bite though. The saliva of a flea contains the eggs of parasitic worms. With the eggs of parasitic worms on their skin, dogs can become extremely itchy and uncomfortable. Puppies are small and they can't afford the kind of blood loss that flea bites come with. Almost any standard over-the-counter flea medication usually comes with warnings against use on puppies that are less than two months old. What you do is, you bathe the young puppy in mild warm water with soap. This will usually kill all fleas.Once you're done, you can dry your puppy and use a flea comb to remove any fleas that remain.

The way to bathe a puppy for flea control purposes is to apply the soap to the puppy's coat before you actually wet the puppy. This way, the fleas have no time to prepare themselves for the assault. They just can't survive in soap. The best soap for this kind of purpose is usually Dawn dish liquid. Prepare a soapy mixture half with water and half with soap and keep it ready before you bring your puppy into the room. You'll need to soothe the puppy with a lot of tender loving care for a while before he'll let you give him the treatment. Once your puppy is grown enough, say past the age of 2 to 3 months, you can put him on a regimen of preventive flea medication for his coat his whole life.

My garden (trees, plants & lawn) is being destroyed by termites. How can I get rid of them without poisoning my dogs or the wild birds?

The answer is nematodes, tiny roundworms that clear infestations of all termites, weevils, aphids etc. They are effective in 24 to 48hrs, there are no ill effects to humans, pets, plants or garden birds. Scientists over the World are studying these beauties to ascertain if they can be produced in such numbers that they may be used on a large scale in agriculture. This would stop the spraying of poisonous substance's on our crops. They are available for garden use at most good garden centres and there are a number of sites on the web. I used them on the late Lord Lichfields beloved orchids when they had a weevil attack. The problem was cleared overnight. Highly recommended. Good luck.
